More Information
The festival's final concert, held on September 8, 2018 will feature two under-performed, yet extremely important song cycles of last century: Arnold Schönberg’s The Book of the Hanging Gardens and Leos Janácek’s The Diary of One Who Disappeared.
Schönberg's cycle tells the story of a doomed adolescent love that takes place in an Eden-like garden, which dissolves away as the young love fades. Janácek's Diary tells the tale of a young farmer who falls in love with a mysterious gypsy. The Schönberg cycle will be presented with two dancers enhancing the storytelling, with choreography by Andrew Erickson. The Janácek cycle will be presented with video projections by video desgner, Hana Kim.
